More than 6,000 people were killed, most of whom are still missing ... (NewYorkTimes, Sept.2001)
Four planes are hijacked, two crash into the WTC, one into the Pentagon, and one crashes into the Pennsylvania.
At least 3,000 people are killed.
According to officials, the entire US is defended by only 14 fighters (two planes each in seven military bases).
And "they no longer included any bases close to two obvious terrorist targets - Washington, DC, and New York City"
